History
As famously known as “Southern Khalighat” Sree Pera Bhagavathy Temple is situated at Perayil Village in the Panoramic plains amidst Machad-Vazhani hills about 15 kms away from Thrissur Town. The celestial idol carved out of a sacred “Krishnasila” installed beneath as age old great Poovam Tree!. The whole people in and around this village worship this idol as their Prime Goddess and seek blessings! It is believed that this idol was installed and ionsecrated as a sacred deitry by a great Maharshi about 1500 years ago!. As years passed, the idol got ruined thus famine and hardships took place in and around this village! As to get rid off the sufferings and to attain peace and prosperity people in this village started to worship the goddess after taking holy bath in the stream which flows just this sacred idol! Later under the guidance of Brahmashri Manapuzha Raman Namboothiripad as Ashttamangalya Prasnam, an astrological findings, was conducted and as per the findings Brahmashri Chennas Dinesan Nampoodirippad was throned as Kshetram Thantri on 16th April 2003. Then as guided by the Kshetram Tantri a trust had been formed with equal rights to around 250 families within the vicinity of this sacred temple and registered as “Shree Perayil Bhagavthy Kshetra Saramkshana Samaithy”, profound devotion to Kshetra Samrakshana Samaithy was so keen to undertake to rejuvenate the temple premises and successfully completed following projects step-by-step with the ardent help from all devotees of Goddess Perayil Bhagavathy!.

   1. Shri Kanchi Kamakodi Jayendra Saraswathy Swamikal laid the foundation stone to build sanctum sanctorum for Perayil Bhagavathy on 1st May 2003.
   2. Rejuvenation work completed and after astrological remedial rituals reinstallation of the diety at the newly built sanctum sanctorum held ceremoniously on the auspicious day of Pooyam Nakshtram of Midhunam 1180(Malayalam Calender), the 8th day of July 2005.
   3. Works of outer Sanctorum (Chuttambalam) had completed and oblate to the divine Goddess on the 27th August 2006
   4. Works of temple pond started in 2007.
   5. Adjoin land at the eastern side of the temple measuring 1 acre 18 cents had purchased in 2008.
   6. Work of Nadapura completed and oblation of the same held ceremoniously on 8th May 2011.
   7. Adjoin land at south,west and northern side of the temple measuring 1.50 acres had purchased in 2012
   8. In 2017 compleated construction of granite retaining wall on 3 side of the temple , greater outer wall and mini temple for Upadevatha
   9. Compleated Pradhakshina vazhi Kalluvirikkal
